THESE FILES CONTAIN *ONLY* NAMED GENES! If a hypothetical ORF has not been assigned either a reserved or standard gene name, it will not be in these files. If you want all S. cerevisiae genes (ORFs and named genes) please see the following file: ftp://genome-ftp.stanford.edu/yeast/data_download/literature_curation/orf_geneontology.tab Also note that these files do not distinguish between reserved and standard gene names. If you want a file that lists all S. cerevisiae genes (ORFs and named genes) and indicates whether the gene name is "standard" (i.e. published) or "reserved" please see the following file: ftp://genome-ftp.stanford.edu/yeast/data_download/chromosomal_feature/"chromosomal_feature/chromosomal_feature.tab This directory includes a text file containing the gene naming guidelines established by the yeast community and files containing yeast gene names and any data that may have been submitted by yeast researchers upon registering gene names at SGD. FILES: ------------------------- gene_naming_guidelines.txt ------------------------- This file contains the text version of the yeast gene naming guidelines decided upon by the yeast research community. ---------------------- registry.genenames.tab ---------------------- This tab delimited file includes data submitted that may have been submitted by yeast researchers when registering a gene name. Column 1 = Locus name Column 2 = Other name Column 3 = Description Column 4 = Gene product Column 5 = Phenotype Column 6 = ORF name Column 7 = SGDID Multiple values are separated by a pipe symbol ('|'), this is used in column 2, 4 and 5. (Note: Every entry should contains "Locus name", "Other name", "ORF Name" and "SGDID". Each entry may or may not contain the categories "Description", "Gene product" and "Phenotype".) ---------------------- registry.genenames.txt ---------------------- This file contains a text version of the same information found in "registry.genenames.tab". All lines have been wrapped to a maximum of 80 characters.
